In the average of the September-November quarter, the level of production decreases by 0.4 percent compared to the previous three months. The monthly seasonally adjusted index shows cyclical increases for energy (+1.6 percent), consumer goods (+0.9 percent) and intermediate goods (+0.3 percent); conversely, a decline is observed for capital goods (-0.6 percent).Adjusted for calendar effects, the overall index in November 2024 decreases year-on-year by 1.5 percent (there were 20 calendar working days compared to 21 in November 2023). Trend increases are recorded for energy (+4.3 percent) and consumer goods (+2.6 percent); on the other hand, decreases are observed for intermediate goods (-2.5 percent) and capital goods (-4.9 percent). The sectors of economic activity that record the highest trend increases are electricity, gas, steam and air supply (+7.6 percent), production of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (+5.1 percent) and food, beverages, tobacco industries (+4.5 percent). However, the overall cyclical trend remains negative in the average of the September-November period. In trend terms, the long phase of contraction of the index adjusted for calendar effects continues for the 22nd consecutive month. Also on a trend basis, positive changes were recorded for energy and consumer goods, compared with declines for intermediate goods and capital goods.”
