MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Pirelli P Zero, the sports car tire par excellence, turns 40 years old. Born from a revolutionary idea, today it is the industry’s best-known brand and the tire of choice for prestige manufacturers.In fact, in the four successive generations of the product, the Pirelli P Zero has become the absolute market champion in terms of the number of approvals from carmakers. More than 3,000 versions have been made for specific car models. The list is extensive and includes true icons of the automotive world, such as the Ferrari F40, 512 Testa Rossa, and LaFerrari; Lamborghinis, such as the Countach, Diablo, Murcièlago, and Aventador; the McLaren MP4-12C and P1; the Pagani Zonda, Huayra, and Utopia; Aston Martin Vanquish, DB9, and V12 Vantage; Porsche 911 in multiple declinations, Cayenne, and Macan. The P Zero continues to represent the pinnacle of performance for a road tire, as it has been acknowledged several times throughout its history by tests in leading tire magazines. It is also the product on which Pirelli’s innovations make their debut: in 2019 on a P Zero was born the Elect technology package for electric cars and plug-in hybrids, now a reference in the industry. In 2023 came the P Zero E, the first Ultra High Performance (UHP) tire to have at least 55 percent material of organic or recycled origin, in addition to the “triple A” in the European label. Even in motorsport, from which it derived its origins, the P Zero is associated with the highest performance racing tires, from Formula 1 to other motorsport categories.
