The third day of the Winter Edition of the Fancy Food Show 2025 in Las Vegas, an event that celebrates the best of international food and within which Italy is Country Partner, thus celebrating the importance of made-in-Italy gastronomy, has concluded. In this context, we had the opportunity to interview Magdalwna Chilinska, Export Manager of Castrovinci Italia, a Sicilian company with a long tradition in the seafood sector. With a presence in more than 20 countries, Castrovinci Italia is entering the American market for the first time, bringing with it the passion and quality typical of Sicilian production.
Who is Magdalena Chilinska and what does she represent for Castrovinci Italia?Magda Iliska is representing Castrovinci Italia, a company that is appearing at the Fancy Food Show for the first time, although it already exports to several countries. Castrovinci Italia is a company in the seafood sector, founded in 1963 by the Castrovinci family in Sicily, specializing in the production of anchovies in oil.
What is the secret to keeping the company’s Sicilian identity alive in a competitive market? The secret is family devotion. The company is run by the Castrovinci family, which follows all stages of production and sales step by step. Although I am not Sicilian, the family’s passion has rubbed off on me, and carrying on this tradition is a great pride.
What feedback are you getting from Americans about your product?Americans are showing interest in anchovies, which are part of Italian culinary culture. We have noticed good feedback from restaurateurs and retailers, especially with redesigned packaging that highlights Sicilian simplicity and tradition.
What is the biggest challenge for average Italians in the food sector? The main challenge is competitiveness with companies that do not have our history and tradition. There are many new companies emerging, but the real value lies in the quality, prices and seriousness of the company.
What do you expect for the future of Castrovinci Italia? We hope to already have some flags in America at the next summer edition of the Fancy Food Show!
Many thanks to the Italian Trade Agency, the Specialty Food Association and Universal Marketing for hosting us at this prestigious event.
