Inter plays poker in Lecce, continues chase of Napoli

LECCE (ITALPRESS) – A dominant and at times spectacular Inter refiles four away to Lecce and thus responds to yesterday’s success of Napoli against Juventus. At the Via del Mare, Inzaghi’s team signs a peremptory 4-0 against the Salento team: the scorers of the day are Frattesi, Lautaro, Dumfries and Taremi (on penalty). With this result, the Nerazzurri thus return to within three points of Napoli with still a game to recover. While the performance of the guests is more than positive, the same cannot be said of Lecce not very concrete in attack but above all too distracted in defense.
In fact, barely six minutes pass and Inter is already ahead, unlocking the result with Davide Frattesi, certainly the most talked about man of the last month in the Nerazzurri’s house. On an assist from Thuram (favored by Guilbert’s mistake), the former Sassuolo midfielder slots into the box and inserts with no problem into an empty goal. The Nerazzurri dominated for the entire first half, constantly putting the less than impeccable Salento rearguard in apprehension. After two goals disallowed for offside to Carlos Augusto and Frattesi and an under-goal error by Thuram, Inter finally found 2-0 in 39′, thanks to captain Lautaro. The Argentine with his left scored from the edge of the box, getting on the scoreboard for the fourth consecutive game.
At the beginning of the second half Lecce took courage, trying to reopen the game with Helgason’s and Krstovic’s goals. The hosts’ surge of pride, however, lasted barely a quarter of an hour and Inter struck for the third time with Dumfries at 57′, served by a brilliant backheel from Lautaro. Three minutes later, Falcone knocks down Frattesi in the box, causing a penalty: from the penalty spot goes Taremi, who seals the 4-0 scoreline and treats himself to his first exultation in Serie A. Lecce at least limited the damage and did not further worsen the deficit, even touching the goal of the flag with Ramadani’s shot from outside the box at 75′ (parried by Sommer). Giampaolo’s side now find themselves in fourth-last place with only a one-point margin over the relegation zone.
