I do my job, I move on.” Thus, in an interview with la Repeubblica, Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè, who, on the criticism also coming from her party, says, “But who cares! Patience. I’m not taking any step back, I’m not resigning, I made that clear. I was innocent yesterday, I am innocent today, I will be innocent tomorrow. Then, if for me you want to change the law and one is already guilty with an indictment, be my guest.” To the premier who had said that the indictment in itself is not enough for a step back, but also that the minister had to evaluate the impact of the Visibilia affair on her own work, Santanchè “retorts,” “But maybe the impact on my work I evaluate. No one can say that I am not working as minister of tourism, no one told me that I am absent, in two and a half years we have applied the whole program of the ministry of tourism: everything.” A meeting with Meloni? “I see her often, we have ministerial councils… Of course I will see her, but nothing much has happened. I am serene.” Finally, on what was said with La Russa, the minister concludes, “La Russa is a friend of mine, we have a human relationship, each respecting his role, he as president of the Senate, the second office of state, I as a minister. Later, in a statement, the minister clarified, “The newspapers can write what they want, even those who were not there when I was speaking, but do not write what I did not say. What I read in some national newspapers today leaves me dumbfounded. Fanciful reconstructions of my statements that have nothing to do with me. It is clear that the bias of certain press stops at nothing to create a news story at the expense of yours truly. Fortunately, I am in possession of a record that proves what the truth is. I have never said who cares about the party but who cares about those who criticize me. I am a party woman and it is obvious that if my Prime Minister asked me to resign I would have no doubts.”
