ROME (ITALPRESS) – Prius has a legacy of innovation and efficiency on its side that it renews with the 2025 range, introducing new geo-fencing technology and updated standard equipment for all versions of Toyota’s trend-setter. For more than a quarter century, the Prius has had a unique impact on Toyota and the automotive world as the first mass-produced full hybrid vehicle, influencing EV trends and making electrified technology more accessible. Since its 1997 launch, global sales of the Prius have exceeded 5.3 million units, including 350,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles. A forerunner of new technologies, the Toyota Prius has always pioneered profound innovations. Sold exclusively as a Plug-in hybrid in Europe, the fifth generation is the greenest and most efficient Prius ever, as well as possessing an amazing powertrain with a total system output of 223 hp (164 kW). With its dual DNA combining electric driving and hybrid convenience, the latest generation Prius, depending on vehicle specifications, achieves a range of up to 86 km (WLTP combined) of electric driving, enough for EV driving on most daily trips. When driving exclusively on urban roads, the all-electric range of the Prius increases to 110 km. For longer trips, or when charging is not complete, the latest plug-in hybrid technology offers power with low emissions without compromise. In the most efficient version, fuel consumption is just 0.5 l/100 km, with a WLTP combined CO2 emission figure of 11 g/km, the lowest ever achieved by a Prius. The fifth-generation Prius, the first Toyota to feature enhanced solar charging, can even recharge itself with the equivalent of 8.7 km of electric driving range per day.The 2025 range upholds the Prius tradition of innovation and improvement by introducing an intelligent geo-fencing function for greater efficiency and convenience, becoming the second Toyota model to feature this system, following the Toyota C-HR. The geo-fencing system analyzes road and traffic conditions through cloud navigation. This data is combined with continuous learning of the user’s usual routes and driving style to enable the vehicle to maximize battery charge by automatically switching from hybrid to electric mode. If the route passes through a BEV-only zone, the geo-fencing system provides enough range to travel it entirely in electric mode, while if the destination is within a low-emission zone, the system automatically conserves the charge to complete the journey in electric mode.In addition to geo-fencing technology, the Prius 2025 range includes additional premium features as standard on all trims. An app-manageable digital key offers-for up to five users-the convenience of accessing and starting the car with their smartphones, while devices can be easily recharged via a wireless charger between the front seats. In addition to new standard equipment, the Prius 2025 continues to make safety a priority and is offered with the latest generation of the Toyota T-Mate system and Toyota Safety Sense. These include the latest driver assistance and accident prevention features, as well as systems to improve safety, ease of use and driving pleasure. The Toyota Prius 2025 is available throughout Europe.
