However, today the situation as it is does not work. We see this from the fact that fewer and fewer young people are choosing to be family doctors,” he continues. “It is necessary to have the courage to make a change that goes in the direction of offering better public health care to citizens. And the thing that bothers me the most is that someone always conjures up the specter of privatization, which I repeat, no one wants to do. “Asked if the young family doctor will work in Community Homes, perhaps as an employee, Schillaci responds as follows, “We are discussing this with the Regions and obviously we also take into consideration what the opinions of general practitioners are. I believe, however, that on community houses and territorial medicine we absolutely cannot retreat,” he adds, “We need the loyal collaboration of general practitioners and I am sure it will be there to make territorial medicine work better, since so many problems depend on it, such as overcrowding in emergency rooms, and then we also need to listen to what the needs of new doctors are.
