Viviani doesn’t stop, one-year contract with Lotto

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Elia Viviani is moving on. The 36-year-old rider from Veneto, fresh off three seasons at Ineos Grenadiers, has signed a one-year contract with the Lotto Cycling Team. “I am very happy to extend my career with this team – the words of the Rio Olympic champion in the omnium and silver in the American at the last Paris Games – First of all I want to keep sprinting for victories but I also want to share my experience with this young team. I am ready to take on this role: to give advice to my new teammates, whether they are sprinters or not, and to help them grow. “In addition to Olympic medals – including a bronze in the omnium in Tokyo – and two world titles in the elimination, Viviani boasts five stages at the Giro (where he also won the points classification in 2018), three at the Vuelta and one at the Tour in his palmares. “At 36, my motivation is still high, I’m still a sprinter and I want to win,” Viviani added, “After focusing last summer on the Olympics and track, it was not easy to find a team but Heulot heard about my situation and all the pieces fell into place. My wife Elena Cecchini was ahead of me, as she was with Lotto in 2015, and she was absolutely thrilled that I would be racing with the same team as her.”- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
