Meloni “We work to make health care more modern and efficient”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Italy can boast an infrastructure of excellence such as the SSN, and the health professions represent the backbone of this system, which it is our duty to protect, enhance and strengthen. This is the reason why, since we took office, we have been working to make the Ssn more modern and efficient, to give increasingly adequate and timely responses to our citizens and recognize health professionals what they deserve.” So said Council President Giorgia Meloni in a message at the event for the National Day of Health and Social Work, Social Work and Volunteer Professions. “We have chosen, for this, to allocate record allocations to health care, bringing the National Health Fund in 2025 to 136.5 billion and a per capita expenditure of 2,317 euros,” the premier explained. “With the Cohesion Agreements signed in recent years with the regions,” he adds, “we have also made available 1.3 billion for investment in hospitals, and with the revision of the NRP we have freed up an additional 750 million to invest, again in healthcare. We have focused the available resources on renewing the contracts of medical executives and staff in the sector and to enhance the value of the staff, starting with the de-taxation of salaries for additional services that serve to reduce waiting list times. We are aware, we for one, that the road to healthcare closer to the needs of citizens is still long and that there is still much to be done. But we are equally convinced that the direction chosen is the right one and should be pursued with courage and determination. We are certain that, in this path, we will always be able to count on the contribution and collaboration of the health professions, which have always played their part in ensuring that our health care has those characteristics of universality, equality and solidarity that the whole world envies us,” he concluded.
