ROME (ITALPRESS) – Promoting the creation of new opportunities for Italian and Emirati companies, supporting the production and installation of renewable energy plants and financing for innovative water management projects with a particular focus on Africa, in line with the Italian government’s Mattei Plan. These are the objectives of the three Memorandums of Understanding signed in the presence of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group Chairman Giovanni Gorno Tempini during the Italy-United Arab Emirates Business Forum organized on the occasion of the visit to Italy of the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which further strengthens the bilateral economic relations initiated with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to the Emirates in 2023.In particular, the agreement signed with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the government body responsible for supporting private sector investment in Abu Dhabi, will facilitate the access of Italian companies, including those in CDP’s portfolio, to investment opportunities in the UAE and accompany Emirati companies to the Italian market. Energy and water are at the center of the other two agreements signed with AMEA Power, an Abu Dhabi-based company active in the renewables sector, and Metito Utilities, a company specializing in the water resources sector, aimed at supporting the private sector in partner countries. The first aims to identify areas of collaboration in green energy and sustainable infrastructure projects, with a prevailing focus on the priority countries of the Mattei Plan . The second will identify initiatives promoted by the Emirati utility, supporting projects in strategic areas in water cycle management, such as desalination and water treatment. “In an ever-changing economic scenario, it is essential to create new alliances to boost investment, innovation and sustainable growth in strategic sectors such as business support, energy infrastructure and water management,” explained Giovanni Gorno Tempini, CDP Chairman. “In this new context, the agreements signed will help further consolidate economic relations between Italy and the United Arab Emirates. Thanks to these collaborations, we will also be able to increase Cassa Depositi e Prestiti’s commitment to development projects in strategic areas such as Africa, in line with the Italian government’s Mattei Plan.”
