Milan collapses at home, Lazio wins 2-1 on penalties

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A penalty by Pedro in full recovery gave Lazio a 2-1 victory over AC Milan, which was down to 10 men with half an hour left. It was Zaccagni and the Spanish striker who signed the success of Baroni’s team, with Chukwueze the author of the only goal for the 7-time European champions, at their third knockout in a row (in eight days). The match began with the Rossoneri’s corner empty for the first quarter of an hour in protest of the club, then loudly protested even after the fans returned to the stands. After a little more than two minutes, the guests built a great opportunity when Rovella sent Dia through on goal with a nice verticalization, but Maignan barred his way with his feet by deflecting it into the corner. Four minutes later, Tavares broke through on the left and entered the box, putting in a cross shot that Pavlovic risked deflecting into his own goal. The Biancocelesti played better and took the lead at 28′. Tchaouna serves Marusic in the area who goes for a shot, finding Maignan ready to make a diving save, but it is Zaccagni who is the quickest of all to rebound into the net on the rebound, thus signing the 1-0. In the midst of the recovery, the guest captain goes close to doubling the score with a right-footed volley that goes off by a whisker to the right of the post. We go to rest at 1-0.In the second half, Conceicao’s team makes an appearance at 6′ when Joao Felix, who took over from Musah already during the first half, kicks high from a good position. The match took a new turn at 22′, when the referee drew a direct red to Pavlovic, author of a foul on Isaksen who had sprinted toward the goal starting from the right, launched on a restart by Guendouzi. Maignan and his teammates thus remain in 10. The Lazio seemed to manage the numerical superiority without any problems but at 40′ came the almost unhoped-for equalizer of the hosts. Leao crosses to the second post from the left, Tavares misses in marking the newly entered Chukwueze, whose header pierces Provedel to make it 1-1. The game seemed headed for 1-1 but at the last gasp it was Isaksen who earned a penalty kick for a touchdown in the box committed by Maignan, ruled foul after a quick Var review. From the penalty spot came the newly entered Pedro, who cleared the Rossoneri goalkeeper and gave the victory to Lazio.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
