7 thousand counterfeit items seized in Bologna, 240 thousand euros worth

BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS)-Financiers from the Bologna Provincial Command, in three separate service operations, seized about 5,000 items of clothing with counterfeit trademarks or distinctive signs traceable to well-known fashion brands and about 2,000 items of electronics and various costume jewelry lacking conformity and safety requirements. In particular, financiers from the Economic-Financial Police Nucleus, as part of activities to combat illicit trafficking, seized a thousand counterfeit high-fashion garments referable to the Australian brand Zimmermann and denounced the legal representative of the aforementioned company for the crimes of “introduction into the State and trade in products with false signs” and “receiving stolen goods.”

Military personnel from the Bologna Metropolitan Operations Unit, on the other hand, intervened at the operational headquarters of a company located in the Bologna capital, where they found that scarves and sweaters reproducing the famous brands Louis Vuitton, Dior, Burberry, Disney, Fendi and Chanel were on display for sale. The business owner, of Chinese origin, was referred to the local Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of selling goods bearing counterfeit trademarks. The commercial value of the counterfeit goods seized as part of the two interventions amounted to more than 240,000 euros. Finally, financiers from the Imola Company seized about 2,000 items of electronics and various costume jewelry lacking conformity and safety requirements in a business selling various items in Bologna and run by a person of Chinese nationality.

The products lacked the minimum information content and all other indications referable to the composition and possible presence of substances harmful to human health
required by national and European legislation. The anomalies found, including the absence of the CE marking (synonymous with certified quality), triggered the immediate administrative seizure of the products whose placing on the market would have generated an illicit profit of about 4,000 euros. One person was reported to the Bologna Chamber of Commerce for violations of the Consumer Code.
