VATICAN CITY (ITALPRESS) – “The Holy Father in the early afternoon of today, after a morning spent alternating respiratory physiotherapy with prayer in the chapel, presented an isolated crisis of bronchospasm that has, however, resulted in an episode of vomiting with inhalation and sudden worsening of the respiratory picture. The Holy Father was promptly bronchoaspirated and began noninvasive mechanical ventilation, with a good response on gas exchange. The Holy Father remained alert and oriented at all times, cooperating with therapeutic maneuvers. Therefore, the permanent prognosis is still reserved. In the morning he received the Eucharist.” This was reported by the Vatican Press Office regarding the condition of Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized since Feb. 14 at Gemelli Hospital.
