Volodymyr Zelensky. Vice President JD Vance said it was “disrespectful of Zelensky to enter the Oval Office, arguing in front of the American media.” He then went on to say that Zelensky is on a promotional tour. Even President Trump loudly warned Zelensky, “You’re not really in a good position right now, you’re gambling with World War III. Your soldiers are short, then you are telling us that you don’t want a cease-fire.”
“We are dialoguing for a fair deal, looking forward to getting into the swing of things and continuing to work and look for some rare earths. But that means we will be there, and that’s a great commitment on the part of the United States. We really appreciate working with you, and we will continue to do so. We have had some very good discussions with Russia. I have talked to President Putin, and we will try to end this. It’s something you want and it’s something he wants as well,” Trump had said at the opening, receiving in the Oval Office of the White House the Ukrainian counterpart.
“We have to negotiate an agreement. We have started to outline the boundaries of an understanding, and I think something can happen. The main thing is about soldiers right now who are dying,” Trump added, addressing Zelensky. “You are losing thousands of military personnel. A lot of soldiers are being lost on both sides, and we want it to stop. We want to see that money used for different purposes, like reconstruction. And we will work very hard for that.”
“We had a lot of very good conversations. I have to say that until we intervened, the Biden administration did not talk to Russia in any way. They didn’t talk to anybody. They simply allowed everything to continue. And I’ll say this in front of you, you’ve heard me say it a thousand times: if I had been president, this war would never have happened,” Trump said again. “We would have negotiated a deal for you without having to go through what you had to go through. But you, your soldiers, have been incredibly brave.”
After the heated debate in the Oval Office Zelensky left the White House and the joint press conference with Trump was canceled. In a post on social Truth, the U.S. president called the meeting “meaningful,” but added, “I have determined that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if America is involved. We had a very meaningful meeting at the White House today. We learned a lot that could never have been understood without a conversation under this kind of fire and pressure,” the president wrote in the post. “It’s amazing what emerges through emotion, and I determined that President Zelensky is not ready for peace if America is involved because he believes our involvement gives him a great advantage in the negotiations.”
“I don’t want advantages, I want PEACE,” Trump added in the post. “He disrespected the United States of America in their beloved Oval Office. He can return when he is ready for PEACE.”
“Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you Trump, Congress and the American people. Ukraine needs a just and lasting peace, and we are working for just that,” so Zelensky on X at the end of his visit to Washington.

“Any division of the West makes us all weaker and favors those who would like to see the decline of our civilization. Not of its power or influence, but of the principles that founded it, first and foremost freedom. A division would not benefit anyone,” Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said in a note.
“What is needed is an immediate summit between the United States, European states and allies to talk frankly about how we intend to deal with the great challenges of today, starting with Ukraine, which together we have defended in recent years, and those that we will be called upon to face in the future. This is the proposal that Italy intends to make to its partners in the coming hours,” the premier continued.
“It’s a very tense moment, which is why we need to keep our nerves, react very calmly and see what the evolution will be after this conversation that certainly did not go well,” commented Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani to Zapping on Radio Uno.
“Let’s see how the situation develops also of the eventual negotiation that there will have to be between the United States, Russia, Ukraine that there will have to be, as well as Europe, which must be united and speak with one voice. The moment is delicate, we have to be very cautious, I am convinced that we always resolve the relationship between the U.S. and Europe, we need steady nerves and prudence,” he added.
“A just peace is needed, but it’s all very difficult, we knew it from the beginning, it’s too early to say when peace will come, there are too many variables,” stressed the vice-premier, who added, “Trump also told the Russians that they have to make concessions. The negotiations have not started yet, we are at the prodromes. You cannot negotiate without Ukraine and without Europe, you have to be very cautious and moderate, careful what you say.
