ROME (ITALPRESS) – Ozgur Yaziyurt has been appointed country president of Pfizer in Italy, succeeding Pàivi Kerkola. Yaziyurt, 48, was born in Turkey and holds a degree in industrial engineering from Middle East Technical University in Ankara. He has been living in Rome with his family for many years, a Pfizer note said, having also had a long professional career with Pfizer Italy. He has held several senior positions in the company, including president of the Upjohn Division, general manager for Italy/Greece, and vice president of Pfizer Essential Health in Italy. During his career spanning more than two decades within Pfizer, Yaziyurt has gained solid experience in a variety of strategic areas, from finance to business development, marketing to sales, and leading several business units. Most recently, he was responsible for a broad geographic area between Europe and Asia that includes Russia, Belarus, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.Yaziyurt succeeds Pàivi Kerkola, who is leaving Pfizer after a career spanning more than 20 years, including five at the head of the Italian subsidiary. During his tenure, he has led the organizational transformation ensuring the growth path of Pfizer, which in the initial phase also had to face the difficult period of the pandemic. “Pfizer,” concludes a note, “boasts a consolidated and diversified presence in our country, with more than 2,000 employees distributed among the field staff distributed in all Italian regions, the headquarters in Rome, the R&D and pharmacovigilance center in Milan, and finally the two production plants in Ascoli and Catania.
