ROME (ITALPRESS) – “There was a long exchange of views that I must say did not lead to substantial changes in our position, much less that of the government.” This was said by Cesare Parodi, president of the Anm, at the end of a meeting with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Deputy Prime Ministers Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini, and Justice Minister Carlo Nordio. “We had the opportunity to explain in detail the reasons that lead us to disagree with the justice reform. We took note of the government’s willingness to move forward without any hesitation and any modification,” he added. Parodi clarified that “it was not a negotiation, we did not want it to be, we have nothing to offer but our loyalty in the principles in which we believe.”
“I didn’t expect more and I don’t see this as a failure-I see it as a moment of clarity for the continuation of our activities. It helps us because we know that this process is meant to go on, legitimately, and in which we will be included as citizens,” he added. “We have expressed our positions, but there is no form of possible contact, because this conviction, which in my opinion is the basis of the reform, has been radicalized over many years, on the conviction also partly unjust of the judiciary.”
La nota di Palazzo Chigi
Following the meeting, Palazzo Chigi issued a note on the matter: “At the center of the meeting – frank and fruitful – the constitutional reform on the separation of careers and the Csm under consideration by Parliament. The premier thanked the ANM for the remarks and insights that emerged in the debate and announced the willingness to open a discussion table on the ordinary laws implementing the reform and on the eight-point document presented by the ANM, which concerns the administration of justice. The government reaffirmed its willingness to continue with determination and speed on the path of implementing the constitutional reform, hoping for its swift approval.”
