Altavilla massacre, Barreca’s daughter sentenced to 12 years and 8 months

PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – The eldest daughter of Giovanni Barreca, who was indicted like her father and a couple of religious fanatic friends in the Altavilla massacre in the province of Palermo, was sentenced to 12 years and 8 months in prison by the gup of the Palermo Juvenile Court.

The events date back to Feb. 11, 2024, when her mother and two little brothers, ages 16 and 5, were killed during a mad ritual of deliverance from the devil. The girl was tried in an abbreviated trial and had her sentence reduced by one-third. The prosecutor had asked for 18 years for the young woman, who was 17 at the time of the events and was charged with multiple aggravated murder and concealment of a corpse. The murders occurred a year ago in the family cottage.

Meanwhile, the father Giovanni Barreca, who killed his wife and two small children, was found to be of sound mind. This was ruled by the Palermo Assize Court, which rejected a plea of no contest due to insanity.
