Quiet night for Pope Francis, new bulletin later in the day

ROME (ITALPRESS) – The Holy See press office reports that the night was quiet and the Pope is resting. The Holy Father has been hospitalized since Feb. 14 at Policlinico Gemelli and yesterday presented no episodes of respiratory failure, the Vatican press office also reported, stressing that the Holy Father’s clinical condition remained stable compared to previous days.

Pope Francis continued respiratory and motor physiotherapy with benefit. Hemodynamic parameters and blood tests remained stable, they reported. He presented no fever. Doctors still maintain a reserved prognosis. In view of the stable clinical picture, the next medical bulletin will be issued on Saturday.

Also yesterday, the Holy Father engaged in some work activities during the morning and afternoon, alternating between rest and prayer. Before lunch he received the Eucharist.

On Thursday on the occasion of the 9 p.m. rosary in St. Peter’s Square, an audio message from the Pontiff had been broadcast, recorded in Spanish from Gemelli Hospital: “I thank you wholeheartedly for your prayers for my health from the Square. I accompany you from here. May God bless you and may the Virgin keep you, thank you,” the Pope said in a faint voice.
