Black smoke for the Italian Bridge Game Federation elections

SALSOMAGGIORE TERME (ITALPRESS) – Black smoke at the ordinary elective national assembly of the Italian Bridge Federation, called to choose the new president for the four-year Olympic period 2025-2028 at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Salsomaggiore Terme.

The first ballot (378 out of 381 eligible voters present) to designate Francesco Ferlazzo Natoli’s successor-who had been in office since 2017-had seen Pierfrancesco Parolaro garner 160 preferences out of 378 against Giuseppe Frenna’s 134 and Federica Brambilla’s 82, in addition to two blank ballots. The two top vote-getters thus went to the runoff but neither reached the necessary quorum (191 preferences, or half plus one): Parolaro stopped at 185, Frenna at 183, with nine blank ballots and one null.

At this point, as stipulated in Law 8/2018, as of March 16, the president and council must be considered to have fallen from office, and CONI will be called upon to appoint a commissioner for interim management and call new elections.
