ROME (ITALPRESS) – Lazio did not take advantage of Juventus’ thud against Atalanta and missed a chance to overtake, remaining in fifth place: at the Olimpico, against Udinese, in fact, it ended 1-1 as a result of first-half goals by Thauvin and Romagnoli.
Baroni has to forgo Tavares, stopped by a muscle trouble, while Rovella starts from the bench due to a fatigue: so Lazzari starts from 1′ with Marusic moved to the left, while Vecino is paired with Guendouzi in front of the defense. Runjaic rejoins Okoye, who returns as a starter after more than three months’ absence.
Very high rhythms from the very first bars, with the Friulians pressing all over the field and the biancocelesti relying on Isaksen, definitely inspired in recent times. For the guests, the most dangerous is Lucca, who first attempts a deflection on a Kamara shot from the distance and then misses by a whisker the underhand touch on Lovric’s cross. Udinese’s center forward at 22′ kicks off the action that leads to the lead by keeping the ball and serving Thauvin, who then, on the development of the confused action, beats Provedel from a few steps. Lazio’s reaction is vehement and materializes in 32′: Romagnoli fishes Zaccagni with a throw over the defense, the 10 finds the shot but also the miracle of Okoye.
On the corner kick taken by Isaksen, Vecino finds the bank for the same Romagnoli, who at the second post, with a goal similar in dynamics to the one scored in the Europa League against Viktoria Plzen, ties the score. Before halftime there is still room for Lucca’s turn, with the ball going out by inches.
Lazio returned to the field more proactive in the second half, with Noslin, who came in for a Tchaouna not at ease in the role of first forward, immediately a protagonist: the former Verona man found the cue to serve an assist to Zaccagni, who was anticipated almost on the line by a super intervention by Kamara. Udinese struggles to take the field and then Runjaic changes everything: in come Atta, Payero and Zemura, immediately protagonists.
In particular, it was Zemura who went close to scoring directly from a free kick: Provedel flew to remove the ball from the corner. The Friulans gain more and more confidence while the Biancocelesti pay perhaps a bit of tiredness. However, Lazio manages to hold and the result does not change anymore. Baroni’s team can now think about the return match against Viktoria Plzen, while Udinese continue their positive momentum after their four wins and one draw in the previous five days
