VERONA (ITALPRESS) – Bologna continued its march toward Europe and also conquered Verona’s Bentegodi 2-1, centering its third consecutive victory in the match marking the 28th day of the championship: goals by Jens Odgaard and Nicolò Cambiaghi decided.
The host formation starts off strong right away, going to the conclusion after just two minutes with Odgaard who, however, does not frame the goal mirror. The Gialloblù have a more cautious attitude and choose to wait for the right moment to try to hit their opponents. Making the match, however, are always Vincenzo Italiano’s men: at 23′ Moro tries an insertion in the Veneto penalty area, but Dawidowicz is alert and foils the threat. At 28′ the hosts protested an alleged penalty following an intervention by Ferguson, which was ruled regular by the referee and Var. Three minutes later Sarr skips past Calabria and goes for a shot, but finds only the outside of the net. Hellas was on the rise and at 38′ had a great chance with Sarr, who, after a mistake by Calabria, was anticipated by Skorupski. In the Scaligeri’s best moment, it was Bologna who took the lead in the 40′ thanks to a goal scored by Odgaard: the Dane received a nice ball from Calabria and beat Montipò with his left foot. Seconds before halftime, Orsolini steals the ball from Valentini and sprints toward the goal, but then stumbles over the ball.
In the opening of the second half, Odgaard came close to doubling the score, but found the prompt response of Montipò who saved his team. Italiano’s boys continued to push, making themselves dangerous at several junctures, first with Orsolini and then with Aebischer, but Montipò was not surprised. At 61′ the Venetians nabbed the equalizer with newcomer Tengstedt, but the mark was annulled by Var for the Dane’s offside. In 71′ Valentini committed a serious ingenuity on Ndoye and was sent off for double yellow, leaving his team in ten. The Rossoblù took advantage of the positive moment and at 78′ signed the double with Cambiaghi who, on an assist from Dominguez, made it 2-0 taking advantage of an uncertainty by Montipò. Not even time to rejoice for the Emilians, that in the 80′ it was Daniel Mosquera who reopened the contest, capitalizing on Tengstedt’s suggestion to the fullest: the goal was validated after a Var check.
In the final Zanetti’s men tried everything, but it was still the red and blue who came closest to scoring with Dallinga. At the Bentegodi it ends 1-2 in favor of the Emilians. By virtue of its third consecutive success, Bologna hooks Lazio into fifth place in the standings, rising to 50 points, while Verona remains 14th at 26. In the next round the felsinei will host precisely Lazio on Sunday at the Dall’Ara, while the scaligeri will be engaged in the away match in Udine on Saturday.
