WASHINGTON (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – President Donald Trump bought a new Tesla in the driveway of the White House, choosing a gleaming red sedan to show his support for Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, which is facing a backlash because of its efforts to promote the president’s political agenda and reduce the federal government’s workforce. Trump sat in the driver’s seat of a Model S, while Musk climbed into the passenger side and joked that he would “give the Secret Service a heart attack” as they talked about how to start a vehicle capable of reaching 60 mph in seconds. Trump told reporters he would write a check for the car, which retails for about $80,000, and drop it off at the White House so his staff could drive it. The president also said he hopes his purchase will boost Tesla’s fortunes.
Today’s was yet another example of Trump’s loyalty to Musk, who spent heavily on his campaign to return to the White House last year and has so far been a key figure in the new administration. Musk is leading Trump’s efforts to reform federal agencies and reduce the workforce. The Republican president announced on social media Tuesday morning that he would buy a new Tesla as a “show of trust and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American.”
