Politecnico di Milano confirms global excellence according to QS World University Rankings

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – The Politecnico di Milano once again asserts itself among global academic excellence in the new edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, taking 6th place worldwide in Design, 7th in Architecture and 21st in Engineering. The University thus strengthens its leadership in the three core areas that shape its identity and, at the same time, registers advances in all the disciplinary areas in which it is present.

In a panorama that surveyed more than 5,200 universities, of which 1,747 entered the rankings, Politecnico di Milano grows in Arts & Humanities (Arts & Humanities), moving up from 60th to 50th place; in Natural Sciences (Natural Sciences), rising from 129th to 113th; and in Social Sciences & Management (Social Sciences & Management), improving its position from 100th to 91st. For the first time, it also receives scores in the Life Sciences & Medicine (Life Sciences & Medicine) area, although not officially accessing the rankings, reflecting an increasingly pronounced interdisciplinary focus and new collaborations in the medical-scientific field. Notable achievements include 12th place worldwide in Mechanical, Aerospace & Manufacturing Engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering), 13th place in Civil & Structural Engineering (Civil & Structural Engineering), and 26th place in Data Science & AI.

“The Politecnico di Milano confirms its position among universities of excellence globally. The across-the-board improvement in all areas surveyed reflects a widespread method, unity of purpose and approach that increasingly characterizes us as an institution and as a reference for the international community. – comments the Rector, Donatella Sciuto – This positioning reflects not only the high quality of teaching and research, but also Politecnico di Milano’s ability to respond to contemporary challenges with an interdisciplinary and innovative approach.”

The particularly high score in Employer Reputation, one of QS’s indicators, reveals that Politecnico di Milano graduates not only find jobs quickly, but are also highly valued by Italian and international employers for their skills and capacity for innovation. The other award-winning aspect is the International Research Network (IRN), which recognizes the ability to weave global scientific collaborations.
