CATANIA (ITALPRESS) – Businessmen and insurers from Catania confronted each other in the Aula Magna of the Department of Engineering at the University of Catania on the damage caused by the risk derived from climate change and the resulting legal obligation to take out policies against damage caused by natural disasters and catastrophic events. A necessary and urgent discussion in light of the imminent entry into force of the government measure that will become operational starting next month. The meeting was held with the support of the Banking and Insurance Section of Confindustria Etna.
“In the face of climate change, which often generates extreme events, the government has deemed it necessary to provide protection tools for businesses and citizens. The goal of the law is to provide the necessary solutions to ensure a secure future for businesses and families, which are too often surprised by serious difficulties resulting from environmental disasters. In the Reconstruction Law there is an early settlement of 30 percent of the damage suffered by businesses, thus improving certainty in the timing of compensation and ensuring the effectiveness of the timeliness of insurance policies,” Minister Adolfo Urso wrote in his message, which was read by Attilio Lombardo, Etna president of the Banking and Insurance Section of Confindustria.
“In this area,” the message sent by the Made in Italy minister further reads, “there is also a 50 percent Sace coverage assisted by the state for compensation paid in disaster-stricken territories. Lombardo, on the other hand, emphasized the risks faced by SMEs. “THE fact that only 6.3 percent of SMEs are insured represents an alarming figure that cannot be ignored.”
