WARSAW (POLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Vladimir Putin’s Russia remains “the most serious threat” to NATO. Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte said this during a press point in Warsaw with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. “Russia remains the biggest and most direct threat to our Alliance,” Rutte noted. If “anyone” ever decides to attack a country that is part of NATO, he went on to clarify, “our reaction will be devastating.” “This must be clear to Putin and to anyone thinking of attacking us,” he concluded.
The United States is committed “to a strong NATO,” but the European Union “must do more,” the NATO secretary general added. Rutte said he “agrees” with U.S. President Donald Trump in that both European countries and Canada need to “do more” within the alliance. The NATO secretary general added that there are encouraging signs, however. “Last year there was a 20 percent increase in defense investment in the EU and Canada,” he noted.
Rutte domani a Parigi
Rutte will travel to Paris tomorrow to attend a meeting of European leaders and Canada with Ukraine. This was reported in a note from the alliance. French President Emmanuel Macron has called a meeting of the so-called “willing countries” for tomorrow to discuss the situation in Ukraine. This evening, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will be in Paris for a working dinner with Macron ahead of the summit.
