Global Money Week closes, more than 400 financial education initiatives dedicated to young people

ROME (ITALPRESS) – The thirteenth edition of Global Money Week, the awareness campaign dedicated to young people, promoted by the OECD and coordinated in Italy by the Committee for the Planning and Coordination of Financial Education Activities (Edufin Committee), ended with a great success. This was announced by the Ministry of Economy.

More than 400 initiatives were held throughout Italy this year, up from the previous edition, confirming the commitment of public and private institutions, associations, universities, schools and research organizations in promoting greater financial awareness among the younger generations. The Edufin Committee selected and promoted the initiatives that are collected in the event’s official calendar. The events covered topics such as financial planning, savings, electronic payment instruments, retirement planning, insurance, the tax system and financial legality.

In keeping with this edition’s theme “Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow,” special attention was paid to web scams, information on financial issues through social media, and the mechanisms that come into play in financial decisions.

The proposed initiatives aim to raise awareness among young people about the importance of acquiring sound financial skills and developing a critical approach to information sources. The youngest children were involved with games and educational workshops aimed at bringing girls and boys closer to the topics of financial planning. Educational workshops, quizzes and lectures were organized for secondary school students, while webinars and seminars targeted universities and young adults.

Online educational materials, including tutorials, video pills and podcasts, were made available to all to ensure wide access to educational content. Global Money Week was actively supported by the Ministry of Education and Merit, which invited schools in the country and Italian schools abroad to join the initiatives dedicated to them.
