Manchester City will face Inter and Juventus, while Real Madrid is the common opponent for Atalanta and Milan. Bologna will travel to Lisbon for double fixtures against Benfica and Sporting. With Gigi Buffon and Cristiano Ronaldo dividing the tasks in Monte Carlo—the former drawing the balls and the latter pressing the button for the matchups determined by the software—the draw for the 2024-25 Champions League has been completed.
The new format features a 36-team group stage (each team will play 4 home games and 4 away games) with a single standings table. The first matchday will take place between September 17 and 19, with the final round on January 29. The top eight teams advance directly to the Round of 16; teams ranked 9th to 24th will play in knockout stage playoffs, with the winners moving on to the Round of 16. From that point, the competition will proceed with the traditional knockout format.
