From Italy to New York: when Italian innovation turns human capital into global value

The story of WH and its founder, Davide De Lucis — between the vision of an Italy that innovates and the challenge of a New York that makes no concessions

New York doesn’t welcome — it tests you. It watches as you walk among the skyscrapers that mirror your image like reflections of what’s possible. That’s when you understand whether you’re ready to face the challenges of your dreams.

For WH and its founder, Davide De Lucis, that test lasted three months. Three months to understand whether what he was building with his team in Italy could truly compete on a global level. Meetings, trials, challenges, and relentless rhythms in a city where consistency means everything.

“New York represents both the dream and the challenge,” says De Lucis. “You feel small, yet part of something immense. It forces you to ask yourself how far you’re willing to go for what you believe in.”

WH was born from an Italian dream grounded in vision and resilience: offering people the chance to choose and be chosen — without filters, bias, or borders. To be evaluated for who they truly are — skills, ambitions, desires, and authenticity.

Italy, however, isn’t an easy place for innovators. Small and medium-sized enterprises, the weight of tradition, and a cultural slowness to change are challenges that shape you more than any business plan. “If you can make it in Italy, you can make it anywhere,” explains De Lucis. “It’s like laying solid foundations — they’re what you rely on when you decide to build something that can stand overseas.”

From those foundations came Whp.AI, the artificial intelligence platform developed by WH to revolutionize human resources management. The system analyzes CVs, LinkedIn profiles, personnel records, and HR software, translating data into actionable insights for recruitment, training, and team optimization. With WH, algorithms don’t replace HR professionals — they amplify their potential.

“We wanted the opposite of what usually happens,” says De Lucis. “Not American innovation coming to Italy, but Italian innovation capable of reaching America.”

In 2024, WH launched its early adoption phase in the U.S. market through a partnership with eMazzanti Technologies, an ICT company based in Hoboken, New Jersey, repeatedly recognized as the #1 Managed IT Service Provider in New York City. The initiative was developed within a European Commission business exchange program.

“We’re proud to collaborate with WH to expand the frontiers of artificial intelligence,” said Carl Mazzanti, president of eMazzanti Technologies. “Solutions like Whp.AI help us stay at the forefront and provide clients with cutting-edge technology.”

After this initial phase, WH adapted the platform to the global market and began commercialization starting from Italy.

From that first American experience came new connections and recognition. In 2025, Davide De Lucis returned to New York as part of the Lazio Region delegation, selected to showcase Italian innovation excellence at the NIAF – National Italian American Foundation.

Today, WH collaborates with Buonquillo — a strategy firm based in Turin and New York, founded by Italian-American entrepreneur Philip Germano and Ines Tammaro — as part of the Global Intelligence Program for Universities, a project that connects academia and industry on the themes of AI ethics and the future of work.

Students from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, under the guidance of Prof. Ingrid S. Greene, are working with WH on an expansion plan for the U.S. market.

“We chose WH for its human-centered approach to innovation,” explains Philip Germano. “Its message reflects Italian excellence — creative, ethical, and capable of bridging empathy and enterprise. Whp.AI is not just software; it’s a strategic ally for managing human capital.”

From Italy to the world

Today, WH works with companies across the Retail, Automotive, Aviation, Metallurgical, ICT, Services, Oil & Gas, and Real Estate sectors. It received an Honorable Mention from Unindustria for “Best Product and Service Innovation” and is a Microsoft Partner: the Whp.AI platform is distributed globally through the Microsoft B2B Marketplace.

Companies adopting WH’s HR Intelligence solutions report an average 30% increase in productivity and a 65% reduction in time and costs compared to traditional processes.

Supported by Regione Puglia, Politecnico di Bari, and Nextàmina, a boutique of Permanent Capital and Advisory, WH continues to grow by anticipating and interpreting business needs.

Amid the sounds of Manhattan and walks through Hoboken, Davide De Lucis realized that a dream becomes real only when it’s shared.

Today, WH is that shared vision: an Italian dream that has learned to speak the language of the world. A bridge between people and technology, between Italy and the United States, between who we are and who we can become through artificial intelligence.

Because New York doesn’t offer discounts —
but to those who believe in their dreams and work to make them real, it gives everything back — multiplied.
