After more than thirty years, Mozart’s Requiem will once again resonate beneath the neo-Gothic vaults of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Leading the performance will be Maestro Stefano Miceli, a distinguished figure in Italian orchestral conducting worldwide, who on November 6 will bring Mozart’s sacred music back to the heart of Manhattan, turning the event into an anthem to art, faith, and cultural dialogue.
New York is preparing for an evening of exceptional artistic and symbolic significance: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem will return to St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the first time since the 1990s. Conducting the monumental score will be Stefano Miceli — one of the most acclaimed conductors and pianists on the international scene — at the helm of the New York Academy Orchestra, the Clarum Sonum Choir of New Jersey, and a group of world-renowned soloists.
The event, co-produced by the Miceli Arts Foundation and the Archdiocese of St. Patrick’s in New York, is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated moments of the American musical season. Not only because of the rarity of the performance, but also due to its strong Italian identity, which becomes a symbol of cultural dialogue between Italy and the United States.
For over a decade, Stefano Miceli has been an authoritative presence in New York’s music world. A conductor, pianist, and refined intellectual, Miceli has built an ideal bridge between Italy’s musical tradition and global modernity, promoting Italian culture in America’s most prestigious concert venues.
“Conducting Mozart at St. Patrick’s Cathedral,” Miceli said, “means returning to the spiritual heart of music. It is a tribute to life, to memory, and to the beauty that unites people.” He added: “When music becomes a symbol of friendship between Italy and the United States, it fulfills its highest mission: to unite, inspire, and elevate the human spirit.”
Among the evening’s leading performers is Venetian mezzo-soprano Valeria Girardello, a rising star of the international opera scene, already applauded at La Fenice and La Scala, here making her official New York debut. She will be joined by outstanding Italian musicians, including the concertmaster of the New York Academy Orchestra, coming from Milan’s Teatro alla Scala Philharmonic.
The audience at St. Patrick’s Cathedral will include diplomatic representatives, Italian and international cultural institutions, business leaders, and prominent figures from the arts. A distinguished gathering for an event poised to serve as a bridge of music and spirituality between two worlds.
Mozart’s Requiem, an unfinished masterpiece steeped in mystery, will once again come to life in the symbolic cathedral of American Catholicism. Under Miceli’s baton, the work becomes a message of universal harmony — an invitation to rediscover beauty as a common language among cultures.
On November 6, 2025, St. Patrick’s Cathedral will become a stage of light and remembrance: a place where Mozart’s music will speak to the world through the voice and soul of Italy.
