Parapentathlon, Italy still protagonist at Europeans

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Italy writes a new history page and takes another important step in the project Parapentathlon, launched by the Federation in 2023. The blues were protagonists at the European Championships in Para Biathle-Triathle and Para Laser Run at the start of Alanya, Turkey. Italian athletes painted blue a day of intense and exciting races.

The Fipm Irbin Augusto Vicco (Asd Futura P.M.) and Alina Alexandra Simion (Primula Bianca), and athletes Alessandro Ragni (Asd Filosport) with the guide Michele Totaro and Michele Baldelli (Dinamo Triathlon Pesaro) with the guide Cesare Bussetti who participated at the expense of their ASD are, in fact, all climbed on the podium. After the victory at the Para Tetrathlon World Championships last August, the 32-year-old Varese Irbin Vicco confirmed the best in the continental competition, winning the Para Laser Run (category PMP5b). Beautiful confirmation also for the very young Alessandro Ragni, 16 years old, that, after the two first places conquered in 2024, with grit and determination, and supported by the guide Michele Totaro, has closed in second place the competition of Para Laser Run (category PMP6a) behind the team mate Michele Baldelli.

The 41-year-old athlete from Pesaro, on his debut in an international race, was the protagonist, in fact, of a beautiful race along with the guide Cesare Bussetti, thus climbing the highest step of the podium. Great satisfaction and emotion for another debutant in a Para Laser Run race, Alina Alexandra Simion, also on the first step of the podium (category PMP5b). Bussetti, finally, took part in the Laser Run Under 19, closing at the thirteenth place.

“I am proud of the results achieved in this first competition – says Adriana Fabbri, head of the Parapentathlon sector of Fipm and member of the Para Pentathlon Commission of the Uipm –. Michele Baldelli, with the precious support of the Cesare Bussetti guide, represented the ASD Dinamo and Fipm, and contributed to write a new, exciting page in the European Para Laser Run Championship. I would like to thank the secretary general of the Fipm Salvatore Sanzo, the technician Raffaele Secchi, the staff of the Federation. The success achieved is the result of the synergistic work of the technical team and the strategic decisions of the extraordinary commissioner Gianni Cuneo, who allowed the blue to climb to the first European places. A sincere thanks to all athletes and companies who have chosen to be part of this journey, confirming the value and commitment of this sport for an increasingly inclusive vision.”.
