ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A relatively simple but very important victory for Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals of the Athens Atp 250 tournament. The Tuscan tennis player, number 9 of the world and second seeding force, is approached to the semifinals on the indoor concrete fields of the Greek capital by bending the French Alexandre Muller, number 43 of the Atp ranking and fifth favorite of the board, with a score of 6-2 6-4.
Musetti continues to have hopes to enter the first eight tennis players admitted to the Atp Finals in Turin. The blue in the Race Live ranking is in ninth place, behind Felix Auger Aliassime, and “would land” as the holder of the “Master” at the end of the year only in case of success in the Athens tournament, at the expense of the Canadian. There are two other victories to the Tuscan: if they arrived for the first time in history there would be two Italians at the Finals. In case of stage exit in the semifinal, or even at the last act of the Greek tournament, Musetti would instead reserve in Turin, unless there are forfait of the last hour or retreats from some of the qualified tennis players. In the semifinals, the number two of blue tennis players will challenge the American Sebastian Korda, 52 of the international ranking, today winner against Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic with a score of 6-3 6-2. It will be the fifth confrontation between the two: in the “previous” he won twice Musetti and on as many occasions Korda.
THE SORTEGG OF FINALS ATP GIRONES
“Today I started the match better than yesterday (against Wawrinka, ndr.). I served better and this allowed me to be more aggressive, especially with the straight. To play well on these fields you have to do so. Now let’s see what will happen. I have to prepare for the next challenge. Then in case I think about the rest, a match at a time.” So Lorenzo Musetti after today’s success in the quarterfinals of the Atp tournament in Athens. The blue did not want to talk about the Finals. To access the “Master” of Turin, you have to win the tournament in Greece, but for now the Tuscan only focuses on the next obstacle.
