VERONA (ITALPRESS) – A unique and innovative evening, which will close the Olympics of Milan-Cortina 2026. It was presented today, during the event “Road to closing ceremony”, the closing ceremony of the Winter Games: on February 22, 2026, at the Arena di Verona, will stage an incredible and innovative show, with sceneries and music designed to enhance the Italian beauty. “Beauty in action”, this is the title chosen to fully grasp the essence of the show. Exceptional guest Roberto Bolle, who also participated in the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. “I’m really happy to be one of the protagonists who will close this Olympic event – he said –, I’m linked to the Games since I attended the Turin ceremony, it’s an incredible emotion, it will be even more exciting in Verona, the Arena is a place where I’m particularly tied up. It will be a reason to celebrate Italian excellence and beauty”.
During the event, the president of the Fondazione Milano-Cortina Giovanni Malagò took part. “We came from that disastrous position of the municipal administration of Rome (which refused the candidacy for 2024, ed.), this opportunity that was created was built moment after moment. We won short with Sweden – he added – because there was the idea of entering Verona. San Siro has 70 thousand spectators, it would have allowed some embroidery for what concerns the closing ceremony, but the appeal, after the insertion of Verona, was incredible. During the event were also the vice-premier Matteo Salvini, the Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida, the mayor of Verona Damiano Tommasi and the president of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia: “I want to remember that in Verona we are not there by chance. It is not a city of ice or winter sports. I wanted to carry on the candidacy of this Dolomite area and at that time this triumphal ride was born – the governor recalled – It was not a walk. The idea of making the closing ceremony in Verona was born in the agreement, unique in its own way, of Milan-Cortina. We are here because from my idea the will of bringing here the opening ceremony of Paralympics was born. I think Verona has helped us to be more competitive in the candidacy”
Present on stage the CEO Andrea Varnier and Maria Laura Iascone, together with Alfredo Accatino, president Filmmaster and artistic director of the ceremony. For the first time in the history of the Games, an Olympic ceremony will take place within a historic UNESCO heritage monument, transforming the famous Verona amphitheatre into a boundless stage. A symbolic choice that will leave an inheritance of extraordinary value for the future of the city of Verona and for its cultural and touristic heritage.
