Cannabis fight, Alberti: “The sustainable campaign is an example of the excellent level of cooperation reached between Italy and Albania”

TIRANA (ALBANIA) (ITALPRESS) – The press conference was held in Tirana to present the results of the “14° edition of the 2025” campaign, an initiative aimed at the destruction of illegal cannabis crops, realized by the Albanian State Police and the Department of Public Security of the Italian Ministry of Interior, with the operational contribution of the Guardia di Finanza and the scientific one of the Consorzio Benecon.

60 operational missions, over 190 hours of flight, 106,000 destroyed plants. Numbers confirming the success of long-term cooperation, which the two countries intend to strengthen, in the context of the fight against drug trafficking and all forms of illegality.

“The Sustainable Campaign – Ambassador Alberti said – is an example of the excellent level reached between Italy and Albania in police and judicial cooperation against illegal activities and organised crime. This bilateral initiative is added to those supported by Italy in favour of Albania in the EU, including EU4LEAII and EU4Justice. Cooperation based on repression, but also on prevention and training, key words of the supported campaign, inserted in the strategy of promotion and protection of the principles and values in which Italy believes.”.

“We are very happy – the diplomat concluded – that this presentation is organized here in Tirana just on the day when Mr. President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, is located in Austria to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Convention against transnational organized crime, adopted in Palermo in 2000”.

At the conference, among others, the Director General of the Albanian State Police Ilir Proda, the Director of the Service for International Police Cooperation (SCIP), Superior Director Lorenzo Bucossi, the General of Brigade Luigi Vinciguerra, Chief of the Third Department Operations of the General Command of the Guardia di Finanza, the Expert of the Body for Albania, Kosovo and Montenegro, Colonel Giampiero Carrieri, the Embassy.
