BERGAMO (ITALPRESS) – The institutional and scientific mission of the University of Bergamo in China, scheduled from 10 to 15 November 2025, involves stages in Shanghai and Beijing within the China-Italy Science, Technology & Innovation Week and the China-Italy University Rectors Forum. The delegation is led by Rector Sergio Cavalieri, flanked by the Prorector of International Relations Flaminia Nicora, the Director of Department Giuseppe Franchini and Gianluca D’Urso, the Director of the Consortium Intellimech Stefano Ierace and Sara Bocchi of the Department of Management Engineering, Information and Production.
The mission began on Monday, November 10 in Shanghai, with an official visit to Shanghai Dianji University (SDJU), where the UniBg delegation was welcomed by Vice President Prof. Hongzhi Wang, along with the Deans of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and representatives of the International Affairs Office. During the meeting, after the mutual presentation of the universities, a discussion was held on the possible areas of collaboration, followed by the visit to the laboratories and the Great Zero Bay Innovation Center (Dalinghuawan), an important innovation pole dedicated to technology transfer and university-business cooperation.
On Tuesday, November 11, the delegation continued its activities in Shanghai with a visit to Tongji Technology Park and later to the Jiading Campus of Tongji University, where a meeting was held with faculty at the School of Mechanical Engineering and a visit to the department’s laboratories. The day ended with the transfer to Beijing, where from Wednesday the mission continues with meetings and institutional appointments. On Wednesday, November 12, at the headquarters of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC), the first meeting of the Alumni UniBg Network in China was held, promoted together with Luberg, dedicated to consolidating the international community of former students and promoting new opportunities for collaboration between Italian and Chinese universities. Speakers were Rector Sergio Cavalieri, President of Luberg Simona Bonomelli, Vice President of Confindustria Bergamo Claudia Persico Alessandra Guidi, Science Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Beijing, Raffaele Cattaneo, Undersecretary of International Relations of the Lombardy Region, President of CCIC Lorenzo Riccardi, Diego Pedrocchi, CEO China of Danieli Group, Giuseppe Cattaneo former president of Ferrari China.
On Thursday, November 13, Rector Cavalieri will take part in the Bilateral Forum of Chinese and Italian Rectors (Beijing), in the session “Innovating jointly school-running models to promote deep industry-academia-research integration”, within the China-Italy Science, Technology & Innovation Week. On Friday, November 14, the award to the Rector Cavalieri of the title of Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University is scheduled to be awarded, in recognition of the contribution of the University of Bergamo to international research, followed by a meeting at the Beijing University of Technology Shan-He-Wan-Gu Innovation Zone and an event of the CI-LAM (China-Italy Joint Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing) dedicated to the automotive sector and the models of cooperation between universities and industry.
