REGGIO CALABRIA (ITALPRESS) – An underground bunker, hidden under a stable in the midst of dense aspromontana vegetation, transformed into an “indoor” greenhouse of marijuana: is what the Carabinieri of the Platì Station discovered, along with the soldiers of the Team Eliportato Cacciatori “Calabria” and the 14th Battalion “Calabria”, during an extraordinary service of control of the territory aimed at the contrast of the production of narcotic substances. Father and son, both reported in a state of freedom, are held responsible for carrying out a real underground laboratory for cannabis cultivation.
The operation took place after careful observation: the military, during a search in the rural area, noticed an electric cable that was lost among the trees – an abnormal detail that immediately aroused suspicion. Following the route for hundreds of meters, the Carabinieri arrived at the entrance of an apparently disused agricultural hut, but inside it was concealed much more. Pushing a tilting panel, driven by a system of counterweights hidden from the view, opened access to a real underground bunker. Inside, the military found a marijuana plantation with plants up to 70 and 110 cm tall, illuminated and ventilated by a complex electrical system and aeration powered by an abusive connection to the public network. Everything had been studied in detail to ensure the undisturbed growth of plants, away from indiscreet eyes. The entire structure, carried out abusively, represented a sophisticated example of illegal cultivation, with so many transformers, fans and lamps to simulate the ideal conditions of a professional greenhouse.
