Media, new Israeli raids in Gaza. Hamas resumes the search for hostage bodies

GAZA (ITALPRESS) (ITALPRESS) – Palestinian sources quoted by Qatar’s Al-Jazeera TV report of Israeli bombings on the Al-Zanna area, east of the city of Khan Younis, in the south of the Gaza Strip. At the moment there are no comments from the Israeli army.

The Palestinian armed group Hamas and the Red Cross teams resumed looking for the bodies of the hostages in the Zeitoun district of Gaza City, in the North Gaza Strip. The Qatar Al-Arabi issuer reports it. In the Palestinian enclave there are the bodies of four hostages, three Israelis and one Thai, kidnapped on 7 October 2023.

Meanwhile, Israeli settlers set fire to the Hajja Hamida mosque, located between the cities of Deir Istiya and Kafr Haris, north of the West Bank, and wrote insults on the walls. The press agency Wafa reports that residents intervened to prevent the fire from spreading to the entire mosque. The settlers wrote on the walls “Muhammad – the prophet of Islam – is a pig” and “We are not afraid of Avi Blot”, the head of the Central Command of the Israeli Defense Forces (Idf). The episode is the last of a series of violence increasing in recent weeks in the West Bank.

American Secretary of State Marco Rubio said “there is some concern” for events in the West Bank that could undermine efforts to keep the ceasefire in Gaza. This is Rubio’s first public comment on the last wave of violence of settlers. “Certainly there is some concern for events in the West Bank that are pouring out and creating an effect that could undermine what we are doing in Gaza,” said Rubio to journalists. Rubio welcomed the convictions that were issued by President Isaac Herzog and the high commanders of the Israeli Defense Forces (Idf) against the violence of settlers.
