IMPERIA (ITALPRESS) – At the border crossings there is no stopping the activity of the State Police, which in these days has intensified the controls with the increase of the number of patrols to the valics with France also with the use of the French mixed Italian team. During an activity of control to the highway of Ventimiglia, aimed at the prevention and repression of illegal immigration and frontal crimes in general, police in the Frontiera area of Ventimiglia, arrested a Slovak citizen and the seizure of a large quantity of narcotic substance, for a total of about 230 kilograms of cocaine.
The man, intercepted by the guidance of an auto-articolate from France, to the sight of the patrols placed beyond the highway barrier, adopted an uncertain and insecure driving behaviour, suspecting the agents, who intimated him the alt and made him approach. Invited to get out of the vehicle and to exhibit the documentation concerning the vehicle and the cargo, the driver showed an extremely nervous attitude, thus causing the operators to suspect that something illegal could be transported inside the truck.
Suspects increased when, in an attempt to divert attention, he went spontaneously to the back of the trailer to show the accompanying bubble and the integral seal on the hatch. This behaviour prompted the agents to proceed to control the motion to verify the possible presence of illegals.
The verification has allowed to find a large quantity of astounding substance: 200 pieces of cocaine, with a total weight of about 230 kilos, contained in seven sports studs and some canvas bags, placed on the upper bed of the cabin and in some rooms of the same. The large amount of drug seized, if placed on the market and considering that it is pure cocaine, could have been worth up to 50 million euros approximately, according to an estimate of the investigators. The vehicle and the substance were seized.
The Slovak citizen was accompanied by the offices of the frontier sector of Ventimiglia, identified and arrested for international traffic of narcotic substances. It was, therefore, accompanied to the surrounding house of Sanremo.
