Pichetto “Italy proactive partner on climate cooperation”

BELEM (BRAZIL) (ITALPRESS) – In the course of collateral events at the COP30 in Belém, the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, highlighted the results and objectives of Italian programs in support of the environmental and energy transition. During the initiative organized by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti “Climate Finance for a Just Transition: scaling innovation and partnerships for global impact”, the minister recalled the role of the Italian Climate Fund, which “supports projects that promote mitigation and adaptation to climate change, contributing to the reduction of emissions, resilience of vulnerable communities, protection of ecosystems.” The Climate Fund, added the owner of the Environment, integrates “with multilateral initiatives and programs such as the Global Gateway and the Mattei Plan, strengthening the role of Italy as a reliable and proactive partner of international climate cooperation”.

Pichetto also launched the Italian initiative “Nature-Based Solutions Innovation Accelerator”, promoted by MASE together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Opening the work of a conference at the Italian Pavilion dedicated to the theme of “solutions based on nature”, Pichetto Fratin announced that the country intends, through the NBS-IA program, “promote innovative and resilient interventions in Central Asia and Africa, in the priority countries of the Mattei Plan, where climate urgency intertwines with infrastructure and social challenges of great magnitude”.
