Cop30, Pichetto “Quadruple the global use of sustainable biofuels”

BELEM (BRAZIL) (ITALPRESS) – “With regard to mitigation, for the reduction of emissions we consider it essential to follow the principle of technological neutrality. And in Belem, together with Brazil and Japan, we bring an initiative: the Belem “4 per” that aims to quadruple the global use of sustainable biofuels that constitute an essential lever for decarbonising transport”. So the Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, speaking at the Plenary of the Cop30 of Belem in Brazil.

“Italy, together with the European Union, is in Belem to continue to build that ambitious path of reduction of emissions. We do so in the conviction, confirmed after the last passages also in Brussels, that in order to advance in this path it is necessary not to replicate ideological approaches that risk damaging our economic and social systems. With this pragmatism we are working with all of you to build a consensus that meets the needs of our communities,” he added. Previously, the Minister said: “We want to continue to build that ambitious path of reduction of emissions that we consider priority for health, the territories and for strategic autonomy. To advance in this path, it is necessary not to replicate the ideological approaches that risk damaging our social and economic systems.”.
