ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “A theme of extraordinary importance for our country, Italian cuisine as a motor of tourism. Italian cuisine is not only a fundamental component of our cultural identity, it is an authentic economic flywheel, capable of generating value, employment and attractiveness in every territory, from small villages to large art cities. We are talking about a total value of more than 250 billion euros in 2024, with an increase of 4.5% on a year basis equal to 19% of the world market. Tourism linked to the production of excellence and our cuisine, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an opportunity that we must fully grasp, transforming it into a strategic lever for the protection and growth of our territories”. This is the intervention of the Minister Francesco Lollobrigida, during the Assembly 2025 of FIEPET Confesercenti this morning in Rome.
“As Meloni Government we work every day to enhance the inseparable link between quality agri-food products and their territory of origin. The path in support of the candidacy of Italian cuisine at UNESCO World Heritage is also attracting great interest. On 10 November last, one month from the New Delhi point, where 24 international delegations will give final judgment, the Technical Commission has already given a favourable opinion. Italy could be the first nation to see its cuisine recognized as a fundamental element for the planet, in all its pillars: from producers, farmers, farmers, fishermen, to our transformers, cooks, restaurateurs, staff, entrepreneurs.
