Trump resurrected with Mamdani, a brilliant move to recover the narrative

NEW YORK (USA) (ITALPRESS) – In a week you can sink your presidency and then, in a few hours, succeed – against every logic – to save it all alone? What just ended was the blackest week of Donald Trump: threats of death to MPs, insults to journalists, the defeat on Epstein Files and a Republican Party that began to get rid of his grip. Trump “toasted”, as it would say in American political jargon. And instead I re-echo the instinctive genius of Donald, what gives him the ability to change the narrative in a flash. What? By doing the thing that no one expected, the opposite of what any adviser would suggest to him: transform the visit of the elected mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani – socialist democratic, 34 years old, defined by the president “my little communist” – in a moment of bonomia, show, complicity. All to return to dominate the titles and make the disasters of the last hours forget. In an afternoon, Trump passed as president under siege to absolute protagonist of the media cycle. And the press, from the New York Times to the TV, made him the biggest gift: first plans dedicated to the new, surprising axis between the president and the future mayor of New York.

Trump’s political-media masterpiece explodes when a reporter asks Mamdani if he really considers the president “a fascist”. Before the elected mayor responds, Trump intervenes by kissing: “You can also say yes. It’s easier.” Theater shot, broken ice, viral scene guaranteed. And instead of the usual furious and grubby Trump, the country saw a friendly, even protective Trump: when a conservative journalist attacked Mamdani because he had taken the plane instead of the “green” train, the president defended him: “It flew because it’s faster. I defend it.” The same man that two weeks ago threatened to send the National Guard to New York now apologized to the new mayor. But above all, Trump was able to keep the news. “The press has gone crazy for this meeting,” he told reporters. “They come here heads of state and no one cares about it. But this… you are all crazy.” She was right. After days of negative titles, we finally talked about something different from its death threats, collapse in the polls and chaos in the GOP. And we talked about something that only he could produce: an unlikely understanding between two men raised in Queens but politically far away.

What about Mamdani? Paradoxically, it is precisely the mayor elected to have been more paved. He was looking for an institutional meeting and came out as a co-protagonist of a show that also removes the most convenient political alibi: the White House hostile. Now you cannot say “Washington does not help” to justify any delays or failures: Trump, in front of the cameras, even encouraged him. “I think he’ll do a great job.” In a single blow, Trump repositioned himself as the great “kingmaker” of a Mamdani who had earned himself a place in the center of the national narrative. Yeah. Trump respects the power emanated from a “winner”, although in the end he must remain the most successful of all. After a week of nightmare, Donald’s media instinct came back in motion. And he did so thanks to the desperate help of a young socialist, Muslim and anti-Trump mayor. Of course, until the next, shocking, roboante trumpianata destined to overturn everything again.
