Also from the US Senate free to spread Epstein files

NEW YORK (USA) (ITALPRESS) – The signature of Donald Trump is now missing. After the House’s overwhelming vote, the Senate also gave the green light to the request to make public all files related to the Epstein case. And he did so without even resorting to a formal vote: the two leaders, Chuck Schumer for the Democrats and John Thune for the Republicans, announced that the approval will happen by unanimous consent, a sign that the court no longer intends to oppose transparency. The measure has therefore arrived on the president’s desk, which will have to decide whether to keep the promise made in the last days. A promise that contrasts with its long resistance: for months Trump had liquidated the matter as a “bufala”, accusing detractors of wanting to mount an non-existent case. Only when it became clear that the Congress, driven by the survivors and a transversal group of parliamentarians, would still impose the vote, the president improvised a sudden change of course stating that “it will impose”.

However, political reality is more brutal: Trump no longer controls the Epstein case narrative. The Congress forced the hand, ignored the attempts of procedural cover and demonstrated that the pressing of public opinion is stronger than party discipline. That the Senate aligned with a measure that the White House had opposed until yesterday represents an unequivocal signal: the dilatory strategy has failed, and the president now has to pursue the events in order not to find himself formally on the part of opacity. The unanimous way of the Senate does not only lead to the publication of documents: marks a clear political defeat for administration, overwhelmed by the determination of those who have imposed that the truth finally comes to light. Now the ball passes to Trump. And the country is waiting to see if it will keep its word.
