Terna, the fourth edition of the Tyrrhenian Lab Master

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The fourth edition of the Master “Digitalization of the electrical system for the energy transition”, promoted by Terna in collaboration with the Universities of Cagliari, Palermo and Salerno, within the project Tyrrhenian Lab.
“The Tyrrhenian Lab is not just a training project: it is a concrete investment in the future of our country. With the fourth edition of the Master, we renew our commitment to forming new generations of highly qualified professionals, able to manage the energy and digital transformation of the Italian electrical system – said Giuseppina Di Foggia, CEO and General Manager of Terna -. The hundreds of applications for access to the Master confirm the great interest in this initiative. We want to offer young graduates not only an opportunity for professional growth, but also the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of the territories from which they come. We are convinced that the energy transition is a challenge that we win together, with competence and commitment. Tyrrhenian Lab is a demonstration of how Terna intends to be the protagonist of this change,” Terna’s CEO concluded.
The Master, who has been extended for two more years, has taken the lead in the three universities involved: In Palermo the President of Terna, Igor De Biasio, the Director of Strategy, Digital and Sustainability of Terna, Francesco Salerni and the Rector of the University, Massimo Midiri; in Salerno the Director of Network Development and Disappearance of Terna, as well as Chairman and Scientific Coordinator of Tyrrhenian Lab, Francesco Del Pizzo, and the Rector of the University, Virgilio
The Tyrrhenian Lab confirms itself, for the fourth year, a training center of excellence to ensure the development of advanced skills related to digitization and energy transition. The project is closely connected to Tyrrhenian Link, the underwater electrical connection about 970 kilometers long that will unite Campania, Sicily and Sardinia. The work will increase energy transport capacity, helping to improve the safety, adequacy and flexibility of the national transmission power network.
The Tyrrhenian Lab Master’s degree, articulated in 11 modules and a final project work for a total of 60 credits, has received a constant and increasing interest from students and students, also the result of the campaign of talent attraction & acquisition launched by the national electricity network manager, in order to identify and involve qualified young people, interested in participating in the Master: the training project has passed from the 170 applications of the first edition to about 400 of the current.
Among the members of the call, 57 were selected to access the path that, once finished, will lead to Terna’s recruitment in the three regions involved, thus countering the abandonment of the areas of the South for professional reasons.
The high number of inscriptions also allows to outline the profile of young candidates who, mainly, are under 30 years old and come from STEM study paths, in particular from Energy and Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical and Management Engineering. There is also a strong increase in female applications, +27% compared to last edition.
