TORINO (ITALPRESS) – Turin today celebrated a new chapter in its automotive history: the Fiat 500 Hybrid has arrived in the city and the production has already started in the historical establishment of Mirafiori. By the end of the year more than 6,000 cars will be produced and, in order to support the production development, a second round will start from March 2026, accompanied by about 400 new recruitments. This goal, with the contemporary start of the renovation work of the Palazzina Offices of the Mirafiori complex, confirms the role of Turin as the heart of the Italian automotive industry and symbol of innovation and tradition. The new Fiat 500 Hybrid marks a moment of strong reconnection with the historical roots of Mirafiori and the city of Turin, where the journey of FIAT began and continues to evolve. The 500 Hybrid, presented in Turin, embodies the spirit of a city that has been able to merge tradition and innovation, becoming a symbol of mobility accessible to all.
Olivier François, Ad of Fiat and Global Marketing Manager of Stellantis, commented: “The 500 is much more than a car: is a symbol of creativity, passion and Italianity. With the new 500 Hybrid, we want to offer a mobility that combines tradition and future, celebrating Italy that likes and the unique link between FIAT, Turin and Mirafiori. This model represents our vision of an accessible, sustainable and exciting car, just like the city that hosts it.” The new 500 Hybrid is available in the Hatchback, 3+1 and Cabrio versions, with three distinctive features – Pop, Icon and La Prima – as well as the special “Turin” series.
The renovation of the Palazzina in Mirafiori meets the new needs of a modern automotive industry, without losing the connection with its history. Mirafiori is one of the three sites involved in this program: The others are Poissy, in France, and Rüsselsheim, in Germany. The intervention affects an area of 61,000 square meters and is divided on five floors of offices outside the ground and two underground floors.
Particular attention was paid to the enhancement of the façade, 200 meters long and covered in stone of Finale, and to the installation of 1.670 new windows, to ensure brightness and comfort to the interior. The project aims to build a building with a positive annual energy balance, thanks to the integration of photovoltaic panels and a smart centralized energy management system.
John Elkann, President of Stellantis, said: “This day represents a new momentum for Turin and Mirafiori, places symbol of our history and our future. With the renovation of the Palazzina and the launch of the new 500 Hybrid, we celebrate Stellantis’ ability to innovate while remaining faithful to its roots.” Antonio Filosa, Ad di Stellantis, added: “The revival of Mirafiori and the production of 500 Hybrid are the concrete demonstration of Stellantis’ will to invest in Italy and its excellence. This project integrates innovation, sustainability and attention to people.”.
