Bankitalia, in 2024 in a slight decrease to 19.142 companies with legal rating

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Bank of Italy publishes the results of the survey on the “reting of legality” conducted during 2025 at the banking system. The survey examines the effects of ownership of the legality rating on the conditions applied to undertakings when granting or renegotiating a loan. In 2024, companies with legality ratings financed by the banking system were 19.142, slightly down from the previous year (-1.1 percent). The percentage of financed enterprises that have gained benefits from the ownership of the legality rating was 65 percent (it was 70 percent in the two-year period 2022-2023). The benefits granted to enterprises have been mainly reflected in the reduction of training times and the application of better economic conditions at the granting or renegotiation of financing (7 out of 10 cases); the reduction of the costs of the instructor (3 cases out of 10).

The companies which, although in possession of the rating, have not received benefits were 6,718, equal to 35 percent of the companies financed: failure to obtain benefits is largely dependent on the fact that such undertakings have not submitted a specific instance in the investigation (61.9 percent of cases); in 35.9 percent of the approved financing requests, the rating did not provide additional information for the purpose of ascertaining creditworthiness and therefore did not produce benefits; incomplete documentation cases were negligible (0.3 percent).
