Shooting in Washington, Trump “It’s the biggest threat to national security”

WASHINGTON (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – President Donald Trump strongly condemned the shooting in the afternoon yesterday in Washington, where two members of the National Guard of West Virginia were injured a few blocks from the White House.

Speaking in the evening from Palm Beach, Florida, the president defined the attack “an evil act of hatred and terror”, adding that it is “a crime against the whole nation”.

Trump cited information from the Department of Homeland Security that the alleged author of the attack would enter the United States from Afghanistan in September 2021, harshly criticizing the migration policies of the Biden administration. “The shooting – Trump said – underlines the greatest threat to national security that our country faces today.”

The president also announced that his administration intends to start “a full review of every foreigner coming from Afghanistan who entered the country under the guidance of Biden”, promising “all the necessary measures to ensure the expulsion of any person who does not belong to the United States or who does not benefit our nation”.

Trump did not publicly indicate the name of the suspect, but sources of law enforcement agencies have identified the alleged attacker in Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29 years old. Federal investigations are still ongoing.

In addition to political criticism, Trump addressed a message to the families of the two members of the injured National Guard and the entire military body. “We are with you and we will always be with you. Every attack on our soldiers is an attack on the United States of America,” he said, inviting the country to “remain united and vigilant.”.

The White House has announced that the president will continue to receive constant updates from investigative agencies in the coming hours.
