SOFIA (BULGARIA) (ITALPRESS) – The Italian Ambassador to Sofia, Marcello Apicella, inaugurated at the Italian Residence the traditional Week of Italian Cuisine in the World with an exclusive event dedicated to agri-food innovation and the promotion of Italian food and wine excellence, entitled “Italian innovation to support the development of the agri-food sector”.
“With events like that of this evening, we aspire to strengthen the dialogue between the Italian excellences with Bulgarian institutions and the representatives of category, in order to feed the collaboration between our countries, which already share important projects and brilliant bilateral cooperations in the field,” said Ambassador Apicella. The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, now in its 10th edition, is the annual review organized by Farnesina for the promotion of culinary traditions and quality Italian agri-food products. The inaugural event opened with the greeting of Ambassador Apicella and a presentation of experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Bulgarian Food on the state of the process of digitization of the local agricultural sector.
The program continued with the presentation of Roberto Mancini, CEO of Diagram, Italian agritech reality participated by CDP Equity (Gruppo Cassa Depositi e Prestiti), Trilantic Europe and BF Agricola, consolidated as a leader in the European agritech sector through the offer of services in the fields of precision agriculture, sensory for irrigation, soil mapping and public resources management. In the course of the presentation, Mancini addressed an audience of professionals from public administration and representative associations of the agri-food sector, providing insights into the opportunities for modernization of the agricultural sector and a more efficient use of water resources, themes strongly felt in Bulgaria. “We are honored to have been invited to represent Italian agritech innovation in an institutional context of this importance,” said Mancini. “Bulgaria is a highly evolving market and we believe that collaboration between Italian technologies and local agricultural enterprises can generate immediate value. Digital transition is no longer a future perspective, but a strategic lever for the competitiveness and sustainability of agri-food chains.”.
ICE Director Andrea D’Andrea, during the evening, recalled that “Diagram Group represents an excellence of Made in Italy in the agritech sector, capable of bringing concrete innovation to agri-food chains. The presence of CDP and the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture, together with the main Bulgarian business realities of the sector, confirms the strategic value of the initiative. Events like this are the most effective way to approach Italian technologies to the Bulgarian market and promote new growth opportunities for Italian companies.”.
Afterwards, guests were able to experience a 360-degree immersive experience, thanks to an interactive route realized with the use of advanced technologies and virtual reality. The evening ended with a tasting of products of excellence of Italian gastronomy, prepared by Chef Carlo Luzzani and accompanied by the famous wines of the Friuli winery Fantinel.
Among others, the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tsvetan Simeonov, and the leaders of the Executive Agency for Forests, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, the Association of Meat Transformers, the Association of Fruit and Vegetable Transformers, the Association of Cereal Producers. There is also a large representation of representatives of the Italian System in Bulgaria. The event was organized by the Embassy, the Institute of Culture and the ICE Agency of Sofia in collaboration with Confindustria Bulgaria and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria.
