Launched cancellation authorization FER plant near Unesco site in Sardinia, Todde “The protection of the heritage is not negotiable”

CAGLIARI (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Sardinia Region, Alessandra Todde, intervenes on the procedure regarding the FER system foreseen near the UNESCO site of Putifigari, welcomeing the start by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security of the procedure for annulment of the Environmental Impact Assessment. The general management of the MASE has in fact started the procedure of cancellation of the Decree VIA n. 585 of 3 October 2025, after the technical opinion of the Special National Superintendency for the PNRR was canceled because based on wrong criteria. The areas of protection had been calculated in a way that does not comply with the regulations, with serious consequences on the whole process and prejudice for the archaeological good recognized by UNESCO.

“The protection of our heritage is not negotiable,” says President Todde. “Without transparency and compliance with procedures, Sardinia says no. Now the opinion will have to be reviewed, and this radically changes the investigation framework.” The Region reiterates its position in view of the forthcoming decisions of the Government: “No project threatening our environmental and cultural heritage will be accepted. We will be inflexible on this.” The President concludes by emphasizing the institutional commitment of the Junta: “I, my Junta and the entire Sardinia Region will always be intransigenti in the defense of our identity. The landscape is a public good to protect, today and for future generations.”.
