Terna is a leader in sustainability in the electricity utilities sector

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Terna once again confirms itself as one of the world leaders of sustainability as a result of the results achieved in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 2025 of Standard&Poor’s Global. The group led by the Managing Director and General Manager Giuseppina Di Foggia is awarded an overall score of 90/100, which puts it in the head of the electricity utilities sector (166 the companies valued at the date), with a growth of seven points compared to 2024 (83/100). In the 2025 edition of the CSA, to which more than 12,000 global companies were invited, Terna’s result, first disclosed on 14 November 2025 and equal to more than twice the average of the electricity utilities sector (42/100), was obtained thanks to the excellent policies and performances of the Group recorded in the ESG areas under review.

Among others, the quality and reliability of the sustainability report, the management of human capital, the reduction of CO2 emissions, in line with the Group’s commitment to subscribe to a program to reach the Net Zero Science Based target at 2050, assumed with the update last March of the Industrial Plan 2024-2028

The Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) of Standard&Poor’s Global analyses the sustainability performance of international companies with greater capitalization, based on strict economic, environmental and social criteria and a review of major disputes. The results of the CSA contribute to drawing up the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), recently renamed Dow Jones Best-in-Class Index, the prestigious international index that selects excellence in the field of sustainability, thus becoming a benchmark for ESG-based investors. Terna’s leadership in this field has also been underlined by Sustainalytics, a non-financial rating agency among the most renowned globally that, in its latest assessment, has confirmed the judgment of the company, the best possible, which places Terna at the top of the global electricity utilities industry.

Among the areas of excellence of Terna identified by Sustainalytics, for example, the involvement of local communities and the relationship with stakeholders, the management of human capital and the risks related to health, workplace safety, business programs for environmental protection and biodiversity, the management of climate-related risks. Sustainalytics’ ratings are consulted by a wide range of investors and are likely to be selected in important ESG indices, including STOXX ESG Leaders and Euronext Sustainable World. Sustainability is one of Terna’s strategic drivers and, in updating the Industrial Plan 2024-2028, its contribution is fundamental in creating value, for the company and for the system as a whole. Over 99% of the Group’s interventions, in fact, is considered sustainable according to the criteria of eligibility introduced by European Taxonomy.
