Operation Market Drugs, 29 arrests against clan members Count of Bitonto

BARI (ITALPRESS) – The State Police have performed twenty-nine prison orders issued by the Attorney General of the Republic at the Court of Appeal of Bari, against persons considered as exponents of the Count of Bitonto clan. They were all condemned, ultimately for crimes in the matter of narcotics with the aggravating mafia and one of them also by association for mafia delinquer.

The investigation, is the continuation of another activity carried out against members of the Count of Bitonto clan (BA) due to events committed on the morning of 30 December 2017 when Anna Rosa Tarantino was killed. The serious fact of blood was caused, as is known, by the clash in existence in Bitonto for the control of the plazas, which saw the two criminal groups operating in that territory.

The two clans, despite the important contrast response from the Sato Police for that murder, continued to oppose armed clashes on the streets of the city in order to ensure the lucrative profits resulting from the traffic of narcotic substances. For this reason, the subsequent investigations have been carried out in the operation conventionally called Market Drugs for the associative crimes in the matter of narcotics, which had remained in line with the investigations on the murders, the weapons and the wounds mentioned.

The twenty-nine measures have dealt with subjects all traceable to the Count clan a part of which already held in various Italian prisons. Of fundamental importance, in the investigation in question, the statements of many collaborators of Justice who have allowed to collect important sources of evidence on the existence of a well-structured criminal organization mainly devoted to traffic and the spread of drugs in the town of Bitontina; an association capable, according to well-proven mechanisms over time, of dealing and distributing in detail, in the two squares of spaccio in which it turned out hegemon, huge quantities of narcotic substances, with consequent huge gains.
